One or two proper holidays with a known destination and duration? Take Airalo, where a bundle makes sense once you actually use most of it.
Is pay-as-you-go cheaper than buying a bundle?
In Europe, Roamless looks cheaper either way. About $1.50 to $2.50 per GB at our June 2026 check, so roughly $9 for 5 GB of real use, against about $19.50 for Airalo's 5 GB Europe bundle in US dollars. The catch is where you go. Roamless rates in remote countries climb steeply, so look up the per-country price before relying on it.
What happens to Roamless credit I do not use?
It stays on your account. Roamless credit does not expire and the eSIM stays installed between trips, which is the entire point of the model. No half-finished 30-day bundle quietly dying a week after you fly home. Airalo packs do expire with their validity window, although frequent buyers pick up loyalty discounts on the next purchase.
